Problem & Solution
In a rapidly evolving advertising landscape, the traditional approach of perfectly staged content on platforms like Facebook and Instagram do not resonates with TikTok's audience. As a solution, we developed video ad templates that not only captivate viewers but also facilitate the repurposing of 1x1 product photos from other social platforms. Our primary goal is to create compelling TikTok videos that do not looking like traditional ads.
Through our learnings, we discovered that videos featuring people tend to yield higher performance. As a result, we invited colleagues from TikTok to participate in the shoots. To ensure a seamless process, we created a best practice brief and directed all the shoots over Zoom.
Opportunities
Following our work on the video templates, we recognized an opportunity to enhance the Ads Manager platform. Ads Manager is the essential tool for advertisers to make informed decisions about their ad budget, target audience, and templates. By enhancing the user experience and interface, we aim to provide advertisers with a more intuitive and efficient platform that facilitates their advertising endeavors.
Areas of improvement
Streamlining the process: The current design has a lot of unnecessary information that made the overall experience feel longer than necessary.
Insightful information on ad postings: Users would benefit from access to valuable data such as popular posting times for specific target audiences, trending hashtags, or interests that can help optimize their ad campaigns.
Easy retrieval of previous ads info: By having quick access to past campaigns, advertisers can build upon their previous ads and streamline the process.
Enhance the video creation process: Ads Manager video creation is less intuitive than the TikTok apps. Enhancing the video creation tools would empower advertisers to produce content more efficiently.
Clear understanding of additional ad offerings: The platform should provide clear info about their ad offerings (interactive ads, spark ads, instant experiences, etc) to help advertisers choose the right type of ads to feature their products or offerings.
Save Draft Functionality: Introduce a "Save Draft" feature, allowing users to save their ads and return to them at a later time when they are ready to post.
Visual inconsistency: The UI of Ads Manager deviates from the TikTok brand. By incorporating more TikTok visual element into the platform, it will contribute to a more unified brand experience for advertisers.
